As a business owner, you’ll likely be wondering…
Voluntary Code of Conduct for Directors: will it make a difference?
The Institute of Directors (IoD) has released a consultation document outlining a proposed code of conduct for directors. This new code, while voluntary, aims to assist directors and business leaders in fostering public trust in their business practices.
This initiative comes in response to recent corporate scandals, such as the Post Office scandal, which have significantly eroded public confidence in business leaders. The proposed code of conduct is built on six key principles: Leading by Example, Integrity, Transparency, Accountability, Fairness, and Responsible Business.
Despite its noble goals, the voluntary nature of the code and the absence of enforcement mechanisms have led to questions regarding its potential effectiveness and the likelihood of widespread adoption.
The IoD is actively seeking feedback from both the business community and the general public on this matter.
GET IN TOUCH WITH OUR WIMBLEDON ACCOUNTANTS to discuss how these developments could impact your business and how you can align with these principles to build trust and integrity in your operations.
